St. Xavier's Catholic College of Engineering (SXCCE), established in 1998, is a premier institution owned and administered by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kuzhithurai, formed after its bifurcation from the Diocese of Kottar in 2014. His Excellency Bishop Dr. Albert G.A. Anasthas serves as Chairman, and Rev. Fr. S. Xavier Benedict as President of the Governing Council. Guided by the vision “Towards Developing a Technically Empowered Humane Society,” the college is dedicated to delivering quality technical and managerial education, particularly to rural youth.
The institution offers eight undergraduate, nine postgraduate, and ten research programs, all approved by AICTE and permanently affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. SXCCE holds autonomous status conferred by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is recognized under UGC 2(f) and 12(B). Accredited with NAAC Grade “A” and NBA accreditations for several UG programs, the college is widely recognized for its commitment to academic excellence. From 2024–2025, SXCCE has also been recognized as a Research Institute by Anna University, fostering advanced research and innovation.
With well-equipped laboratories, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and a vibrant research culture, the institution actively collaborates with reputed industries and international universities. It hosts numerous funded projects supported by DST, AICTE, UGC, Meity, and other leading agencies. SXCCE also serves as an MSME-approved Technology Business Incubation Centre, promoting entrepreneurship and innovative startups. Along with technical expertise, the college emphasizes holistic development, nurturing socially responsible, ethical, and industry-ready professionals.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in 1998 with an initial intake of 40 students in the B.E. program. In 2000, the intake was increased to 60, and in 2007, it was further raised to 120. Currently, the Department admits 120 students annually in the undergraduate program. It is supported by 24 highly qualified and dedicated faculty members. The faculty ensures academic excellence and provides strong guidance to the students.
To support higher education, the Department offers postgraduate programs in Communication Systems, Medical Electronics, and VLSI Design. Faculty members are also actively engaged in research and guide scholars leading to the Ph.D. degree. The Department has consistently maintained high academic standards through innovative teaching and research.
Students are encouraged to participate in professional bodies such as IEEE, ACM, IETE, and ISTE. These platforms enrich their technical knowledge and foster academic and professional growth. The Department also emphasizes practical training to meet current industrial requirements. Its vision is to prepare students as competent engineers ready to face global challenges.
